Madison Correctional Institution is a state prison for men in Madison, Madison County, Florida, owned and operated by the Florida Department of Corrections. [1] The facility houses a maximum of 1054 inmates [2] at a mix of security levels. The death of inmate Justin Campos on October 1, 2013, raised questions about safety in the facility.

Florida administers executions by electric chair or lethal injection. The three-legged electric chair was constructed from oak by Department of Corrections personnel in 1998 and was installed at Florida State Prison in Starke in 1999. The executioner is a private citizen who is paid $150 per execution.
