Krating Daeng (Thai: กระทิงแดง, RTGS: krathing daeng, pronounced [krà.tʰīŋ dɛ̄ːŋ]; lit. 'red bull' or 'red gaur') [1] is a non-carbonated energy drink created by Chaleo Yoovidhya. The drink is marketed and sold primarily in Southeast and East Asia; its derivative, Red Bull, is available in 165 countries. [2]

In 1984, he founded Red Bull GmbH [15] with Yoovidhya, launching the brand in Austria in 1987. [4] [13] Subsequently, he turned the Red Bull drink into a world market leader among energy drinks. [16] It was revealed that he worked on the formula for around three years before the modified drink was launched under the new name Red Bull in 1987. [11]
In 1987, the two launched an export version labelled "Red Bull", for which Chaleo provided the original formula (adapted for Western tastes under Mateschitz's guidance [12]), and Mateschitz the marketing. Each put up US$500,000 for 49 per cent of the Red Bull energy drink franchise, with Chaleo's son, Chalerm, owning the remaining two per cent. [9]

The company's huge success in Europe is credited with their massive marketing campaign with successful racing teams.
