Outlaw Star (星方武侠アウトロースター, Seihō Bukyō Autorō Sutā, lit."Starward Warrior Knight Outlaw Star") is a Japanese media mix primarily consisting of an anime television series produced by Sunrise (now a division of Bandai Namco Filmworks) and a corresponding seinen manga series written and illustrated by Takehiko Itō.

[9] The series was again re-released on March 28, 2006 as the Outlaw Star: Complete Collection. A Chinese version of the manga was published in Hong Kong by Sharp Point Press. [8] [9] The series has also been published in German and Italian by Planet Manga. [10] No official English translation of the Outlaw Star exists, though Morning Star Studio's official website suggests that a release in the United States was planned at one time. [11]
The 13 episodes that are comprised by Angel Links originally aired on Japan's Wowow television network from April 7 to June 30, 1999. Bandai Visual released the series on DVD in Japan in seven separate volumes from August 25, 1999 to March 25, 2000. [1] [2] A DVD box set containing the entire series was published on July 28, 2006. Takehiko Itō (伊東 岳彦, Itō Takehiko) is a Japanese manga artist best known for his work on the manga Outlaw Star from his affiliated Morning Star Studio. He was also the primary creative mind behind other works of fiction set in the Toward Stars universe including the Uchuu Eiyuu Monogatari manga and Angel Links anime series.

The episode's title is taken from a phrase found on American paper currency: "this note is legal tender for all debts, public and private". The episode ends with a close-up of a twenty-dollar bill that Christopher takes from Lt. Barry Haydu after he kills him—the only episode in the series to not fade to a black screen.
