The Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (French: Religieuses du Sacré-Cœur de Jésus; Latin: Religiosae Sanctissimi Cordis Jesu), abbreviated RSCJ, is a Catholic centralized religious institute of consecrated life of pontifical right for women established in France by Madeleine Sophie Barat in 1800.

In 1894, she became superior of the community in Roehampton, then superior of vicar of England. In this role, Stuart studied social injustice in her community, taught Sunday school, and advocated on behalf of poor tenant farmers. In 1939, the Sisters of the Sacred Heart took over the Priory of St. Augustine, in Old Colwyn, Wales—originally built as a hotel—from a community of Augustinian nuns. Over the years it has served as a holiday home for the Sisters, a guest house and a residential nursing home. In 2010, the Congregation opened it as a retreat house. [8]
