The Great Western Lacrosse League, also known as the GWLL, was an NCAA Division I men's college lacrosse athletic conference that existed from 1994 to 2009. The conference was created when the NCAA instituted automatic qualifiers to the NCAA championship tournament; in so doing, it eliminated the "western region" bid.
The SLC is formed from original members of the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League which was the largest MCLA conference in the nation at the time. Because of rapid growth and teams spread out over a very large area, the members decided it was best to start a new conference and the SLC was born August 2008 with the blessing of the WCLL and MCLA.
This is a list of colleges and universities in the United States (and one school in Canada) which sponsored a men's lacrosse team that belonged to the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association in 2015. Per MCLA rules, a University or College with fielding an NCAA Division I FBS football team must play at the Division I level.
