Natick (/ ˈ n eɪ t ɪ k / NAY-tik) is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. It is near the center of the MetroWest region of Massachusetts, with a population of 37,006 at the 2020 census. [1] 10 miles (16 km) west of Boston, Natick is part of the Greater Boston area.
The original Natick Mall was developed by businessmen William Lane, Stephen Mugar, and John Brennan. Construction began in 1965, connecting two stand-alone locations of Sears and Filene's (which had opened in March and August 1965, respectively), with a 600,000-square-foot (56,000-square-meter), single-level shopping venue with 30 in-line stores.
A second story was added to the entire mall in 1988. However, when the mall was built, the anchors were in their two- and three-story forms. Before the renovations and expansions on the Natick Mall were finished in 2007, the Burlington Mall was the largest mall in Massachusetts. It holds the No. 2 spot on the list.
