The RTÉ News channel is an Irish free-to-air news television network operated by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). The channel launched as RTÉ News Now available exclusively online on 12 June 2008. The channel began broadcasting as a free-to-air channel on 29 October 2010 on Saorview. The channel broadcasts free-to-air and commercial-free. [1]

On 4 March 2015 RTÉ revamped its RTÉ Player for international audiences. [15] The new service provides over 500 hours of television from Ireland. RTÉ Player International will be a 'freemium' offering which means that audiences will be able to download the app for free and access 100 hours of free content, refreshed daily.
RTÉ also has a number of digital radio services, with RTÉ Gold being its only online station with a full schedule. The broadcaster operates a number of online services including a news website and app, as well as streaming service RTE Player. RTÉ owns 50% of sports broadcaster GAAGO, which in turn operates LOI TV.
