The Academy San Francisco @ McAteer, formally known as Academy of Arts & Sciences is a public high school located in San Francisco, California. The school is a member of the San Francisco Unified School District.
The school offers competitive sports from grade 4 all the way up to grade 12. The International School of San Francisco offers a multitude of sports, including team and individual sports. Sports offered include; badminton, baseball, basketball, cross country, skiing, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and women's lacrosse.
For the 2017-18 school year, 30% of JCHS students attended public middle schools, 16% attended private schools and 53% came from Jewish day schools. San Francisco residents accounted for 47% of student body, 30% came from the East Bay, 18% from the North Bay and 5% from the North Peninsula. [14]
The San Francisco School of Circus Arts was founded in 1984, as a project of the Pickle Family Circus, which in turn was founded ten years earlier. The Circus Center offers training for adults and children in recreational, amateur and professional circus arts. These conservatories focus individually on Clowning, Aerial Arts, and Contortion.
The arts are not limited to classes during the regular school day. The Visual Arts department puts on exhibitions throughout the year, with the work of the IB visual arts students prominently on display at the March Arts Reception and at the end-of-year May Arts Festival. The after school performing arts program includes theater and music.
In 2005 a new public high school, the Academy of Arts and Sciences, was started and shares the McAteer campus with SOTA. Although it shares the campus with the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, it is a completely separate school. [4] Now called The Academy - San Francisco @ McAteer, it admits students through the normal high school admissions process.
The Academy of Art Urban Knights are the 13 varsity athletic teams that represent Academy of Art University, located in San Francisco, California, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Urban Knights compete as members of the Pacific West Conference.
Additionally, Urban has active student government, outdoor and class trips program, and a student newspaper, yearbook, and online literary and arts journal.
