Jackson is located on US Route 61 approximately seven miles northwest of Cape Girardeau. Hubble Creek and its tributary Goose Creek flow through the city. Jackson County is located in the western portion of the U.S. state of Missouri, on the border with Kansas.As of the 2020 census, the population was 717,204. [1] making it the second-most populous county in the state (after St. Louis County in the east).
According to that census estimate, the population of Missouri is 6,196,156, an increase of 0.7% from 2020. The average population of Missouri's counties is 53,880; St. Louis County is the most populous (987,059), and Worth County is the least (1,907). The average land area is 599 sq mi (1,550 km 2).
Route 25 is a highway in south-eastern Missouri. Its northern terminus is at Business Interstate 55/U.S. Route 61/Route 34 in Jackson. Its southern terminus is at U.S. Route 412/Route 84 in Kennett. Route 25 was one of the original 1922 state highways. Its original northern terminus was at Route 9 in Festus.
