The town's name means "flowing water" in the Dakota language. The population of Minnedosa reported in the 2021 Canadian Census was 2,741. [2]

From PR 270, the road continues east for 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) to meet PTH 10 and 16 just west of Minnedosa. PR 355 continues east for 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) into Minnedosa, reaching its eastbound terminus with PTH 16A in the town's north end. PR 355 is known as 6th Avenue N.W. within Minnedosa's town limits.
