St. George's Greek Orthodox Church is a historic Greek Orthodox Church building at 55 North Street in Southbridge, Massachusetts. Built in 1932, it is the oldest Orthodox church in the city, and is a locally rare example of Byzantine and Greek architecture. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. [1]

Holy Trinity was the first church built for a Greek Orthodox congregation in the United States. It is known for its golden dome, mosaics, iconography, and rich history. Archbishop Iakovos of America, who led the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America from 1959 through 1996, was ordained as a priest at Holy Trinity on June 16, 1940.
The district encompasses a cluster of nineteen houses on or adjacent to Glover Street between High and Poplar Streets. The area was fully developed beginning in the first decades of the 20th century, filling in a previous round of development that had taken place in the 1890s. These houses were targeted at Southbridge's growing middle class. [2]
