The 1988 Notre Dame vs. Miami football game (known colloquially as Catholics vs. Convicts) [2] was a college football game played between the Miami Hurricanes of the University of Miami and the Fighting Irish of the University of Notre Dame on October 15, 1988, at Notre Dame Stadium in Notre Dame, Indiana.
The following year, Miami ended Notre Dame's record 23-game winning streak, 27–10. The rivalry ended after the Fighting Irish dashed No. 2 Miami's hopes for a repeat national championship with a 29–20 victory in South Bend in 1990. Notre Dame subsequently dropped Miami from its schedule due to the intensified rivalry.
