Utica Community Schools (UCS) is a public school district located in Macomb County, Michigan in the Metropolitan Detroit area. UCS serves the city of Utica, the majority of Shelby Township, the northern portion of Sterling Heights, and parts of Ray, Washington, and Macomb townships in the U.S. state of Michigan.
Cleveland County Schools is a PK–12 graded school district serving Cleveland County, North Carolina.The system was formed from the merger of Kings Mountain City Schools, Shelby City Schools and the former Cleveland County Schools system in 2004.
Attached to the high school is the similarly styled, 2 + 1 ⁄ 2-story junior high school designed by Elmer E. Dunlap and built in 1917. The Arts and Crafts inspired two-story, brick gymnasium was added in 1922. A shop addition was constructed in 1942, and was connected to the junior high school by a concrete block addition in 1977.

School lunch was extended to all elementary schools in Japan in 1952. With the enactment of the School Lunch Law in 1954, school meals were extended to junior high schools as well. The forerunner of Utica High School, the Utica Union School, opened in 1860. It was renamed Utica High School in 1900. The school was originally located within its namesake city of Utica, Michigan until 1955, when the construction of the current building was completed in Shelby Township. The former location is now home to Eppler Jr. High School.
On March 8, 2011, residents voted to disband the city school district, effectively merging it with the Shelby County School District. [1] The merger took effect July 1, 2013. After much legal maneuvering, all six incorporated municipalities (other than Memphis) created separate school districts in 2014. [ 2 ]
