Sting teamed with Luger and Savage to defend WCW against Hall, Nash, and a mysterious third Outsider to be revealed at the Bash at the Beach. Hall and Nash started the bout without their third partner, but the WCW's temporary three-on-two advantage was short-lived: Luger left the match after he was accidentally injured by a mistimed Stinger Splash.
Luger and Hall started the match. As Nash held Luger onto the top turnbuckle, Sting hit a Stinger Splash on Nash, and Savage hit an axe handle on Hall. Luger, however, was unable to get out of the way and was knocked out cold. The match stopped to take Luger backstage. After the match resumed, Sting dominated Hall and tagged in Savage.
However, as the nWo was leaving the ringside area, Sting rappelled into the ring from the rafters. He then proceeded to attack Hall, Nash, and Savage with a baseball bat, and laid out all three men with his Scorpion Death Drop. Sting then pointed the bat at Hogan, challenging him to come into the ring.
The main event was a tag team match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in which the person to score the deciding pinfall would win the title. The match pitted champion Kevin Nash and Sting against Randy Savage and Sid Vicious.

After the match, however, Hogan assaulted Nash. Nash later helped Savage defeat Sting by hitting a powerbomb on the champion, earning Savage the win, the title, and the ire of Hogan who came out following the match proclaiming that Savage had "his title".
