Interstate 35 (I-35) is a major Interstate Highway in the central United States. As with most primary Interstates that end in a five, it is a major cross-country, north–south route. It stretches from Laredo, Texas, near the Mexican border to Duluth, Minnesota, at Minnesota State Highway 61 (MN 61, London Road) and 26th Avenue East. [3]
By 1967, I-35 had been constructed through Oklahoma City. On January 4, 1967, SH-74 was split into two sections, with the removal of the section between Goldsby and Norman. [ 7 ] The southern section was truncated on December 12, 1974, bringing the highway to its current southern terminus. [ 7 ]

The spur route of I-35 is a 5.4-mile-long (8.7 km) north–south alignment in central and north-central Oklahoma City. It connects northbound to U.S. Highway 77 (US-77) to suburban Edmond and southbound at I-44 on to I-35 and the I-40 Crosstown Expressway near downtown Oklahoma City. US-77 is concurrent with I-235 for the entire route.
SH-66A became part of Route 66 by 1956, when the new road (now I-35) was built from the Turner Turnpike north to Route 66 east of Edmond. The old route via Edmond became SH-66 (and SH-77 , since it had replaced US 77 ). [ 14 ]
