The Claireville Conservation Area is a suburban conservation area located on the border of Peel Region and Toronto in Ontario, Canada. The major part of the area is located in Brampton . The park is a 343 hectare (848 acre ) parcel of conservation land located on the west branch of the Humber River .
In 1970, the City of Brampton bought the 40-hectare (100-acre) farm from the last owners (surveyed in 1820s by Richard Bristol and eventually acquired by the Crawfords whom expanded their holdings from 1834 to 1870s and sold by the Crawfords in 1946), [4] with the intention of building a large park, [5] paying for land and facilities from the proceeds of subdivision agreements.
Main Street is Brampton's primary historic north south street, and originally bore the Hurontario Street name, but was changed after the city's founding. The corner of Main and Queen Streets is the location of the city's historic downtown. Attractions along Main include Gage Park and the Rose Theatre.
