North Hill Centre is a shopping mall in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It opened in 1958, and was Calgary's first shopping mall. [ 1 ] The original anchor tenant was Simpsons-Sears (later Sears Canada ), but it closed on January 8, 2018 and has since been replaced by Showhome Furniture.
The first enclosed shopping mall was the Park Royal Shopping Centre in West Vancouver, British Columbia, which opened a year later, in 1950. As of May 2017, there were 3,742 enclosed and strip malls in Canada that were larger than 40,000 square feet (3,700 m 2 ).

Northland (formerly Northland Village Mall) is an open-air shopping mall located in northwest Calgary, Alberta.The mall opened in 1971, and was expanded in 2005. [1] The mall began major renovations in 2021, with demolition to redevelop the mall happening throughout the year 2022 to turn it into an open-air facility. [2]
