The Tampa Bay History Center is a museum in the Channel District. It boasts over 60,000 sq ft (5,600 m 2) of exhibits through 12,000 years. There are theaters, a map gallery, a research center and a museum store. Well-known shopping areas include International Plaza and Bay Street, WestShore Plaza, the SoHo district, and Hyde Park Village. [145]

In 2012, commissions for six $15,000 bronze busts of prominent figures from the History of Tampa were secured by the Friends of the Riverwalk with sculptor Steven Dickey. Nine historians including, former Tampa Tribune reporter Leland Hawes and Tampa Bay History Center curator Rodney Kite-Powell, made the selections. [11] The first honorees were:
