Punjab Kings (PBKS), formerly Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), is a professional franchise cricket team based in Mullanpur, Mohali, Punjab, that plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise is jointly owned by Mohit Burman , Ness Wadia , Preity Zinta and Karan Paul .
Mohit Burman is an Indian businessman. He is the chairman of Dabur, an Ayurvedic and FMCG company. [3] A fifth-generation scion of the Burman family, he also led the family's acquisition of a majority stake in dry cell battery maker Eveready Industries India [4] and the family's entry into the life insurance sector through Aviva India.
The Punjab Kings' catchment areas are Kashmir, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, also evident from the letter sequence "K J H P H" in the banner of the team's logo. In 2008, along with actress Preity Zinta and businessman Mohit Burman, Wadia acquired ownership rights for the Mohali-based Twenty20 cricket team of the Indian Premier League (IPL). [7] The group paid $76 million to acquire the franchise, and named the team Kings XI (Eleven) Punjab, later on changed to Punjab Kings. [8]
