Solution of triangles (Latin: solutio triangulorum) is the main trigonometric problem of finding the characteristics of a triangle (angles and lengths of sides), when some of these are known. The triangle can be located on a plane or on a sphere. Applications requiring triangle solutions include geodesy, astronomy, construction, and navigation.
In the diagram at right, the trilinear coordinates of the indicated interior point are the actual distances (a', b', c'), or equivalently in ratio form, ka' : kb' : kc' for any positive constant k. If a point is on a sideline of the reference triangle, its corresponding trilinear coordinate is 0.
If the sidelengths of triangle ABC are a, b, c the baricentric coordinates of the Lemoine point are a 2 : b 2 : c 2. It has been described as "one of the crown jewels of modern geometry". [9] There are several earlier references to this point in the mathematical literature details of which are available in John Mackay' history of the symmedian ...
In computational geometry, a Delaunay triangulation or Delone triangulation of a set of points in the plane subdivides their convex hull [1] into triangles whose circumcircles do not contain any of the points. This maximizes the size of the smallest angle in any of the triangles, and tends to avoid sliver triangles.
Fig 1. Construction of the first isogonic center, X(13). When no angle of the triangle exceeds 120°, this point is the Fermat point. In Euclidean geometry, the Fermat point of a triangle, also called the Torricelli point or Fermat–Torricelli point, is a point such that the sum of the three distances from each of the three vertices of the triangle to the point is the smallest possible [1] or ...
An Australian scientist says he has figured out the leading cause of the Bermuda Triangle disappearances. Here's the answer. A Scientist Says He's Solved the Bermuda Triangle, Just Like That
A ternary plot, ternary graph, triangle plot, simplex plot, or Gibbs triangle is a barycentric plot on three variables which sum to a constant. [1] It graphically depicts the ratios of the three variables as positions in an equilateral triangle .
