Hersheypark (known as Hershey Park until 1970) is a family theme park in Hershey, Pennsylvania, about fifteen miles (25 km) east of Harrisburg, and 95 miles (155 km) west of Philadelphia. The park was founded in 1906, [ 3 ] [ 4 ] [ 6 ] by Milton S. Hershey [ 7 ] as a leisure park for the employees of the Hershey Chocolate Company .
It houses Hersheypark, Hersheypark Stadium, Star Pavilion, Hersheypark Arena, Giant Center, and the former Parkview Golf Course. The owner of the complex and all of the facilities (excluding the Giant Center - see below) is the Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company (HE&R), based at 300 Park Boulevard in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Hershey Park was opened on May 30, 1906, with a dance hall pavilion, band shell for shows, tennis courts and a baseball field with a grand stand available for sporting events. [5] [6] As the park gained popularity, further improvements were made, such as a grand entrance for the park in 1916. [7]
