Canned Heat is an American blues rock band founded by Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson and Bob "The Bear" Hite in 1965. The band's classic line-up consisted of Wilson on slide guitar, vocals and harmonica, Hite on vocals and harmonica, Henry "The Sunflower" Vestine on lead guitar, Larry "The Mole" Taylor on bass and Adolfo "Fito" de la Parra on drums.
As an official member of Canned Heat, de la Parra played his first gig on December 1, 1967, sharing top billing with the Doors at the Long Beach Auditorium. [11] This began what de la Parra refers to as the classic and perhaps best known Canned Heat lineup, which recorded some of the band's most famous and well-regarded songs.
"The Sunflower", was an American guitar player primarily known as a member of the band Canned Heat. He was with the group from its start in 1965 to July 1969. In later years he played in local bands but occasionally returned to Canned Heat for a few tours and recordings.
This trio formed the core of Canned Heat. They were eventually joined by Larry Taylor and Frank Cook . Hite performed with Canned Heat at Monterey in June 1967 and Woodstock in August 1969. The "rural hippie anthem" became the unofficial theme song for the Woodstock Festival where Canned Heat performed at sunset on August 16, 1969. In 2009, Mandel and Larry Taylor reunited with Fito de la Parra and the rest of the current Canned Heat lineup to perform certain shows on the Canned Heat tour. Hallelujah is the fourth album by Canned Heat, released in 1969. It was re-released on CD in 2001 by MAM productions with four bonus tracks. It was the last album to feature classic lineup mark 1, as Vestine left the band prior to Future Blues.
