Callahan County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,708. [1] [2] Its county seat is Baird. [3] The county was founded in 1858 and later organized in 1877. [4] It is named for James Hughes Callahan, an American soldier in the Texas Revolution.
Leander is located at the intersection of Ranch to Market Road 2243 and U.S. Route 183, approximately 22 miles northwest of Downtown Austin. Georgetown lies five miles to the east on Route 2243. [13] According to the City of Leander, the city has a total area of 34.08 square miles (88.3 km 2), all land.

Founded in 1876, Callahan City was envisioned as a center of commerce and government for the then quite sparsely populated Callahan County. Located along the Western Trail to Dodge City, the community hosted several merchants who served the trail drivers who passed through the area along with more than 100,000 head of cattle through the mid to late 1870s.

Tom Glenn High School, commonly known as Glenn High School or simply GHS, is a high school located in Leander, Texas. It opened in the 2016–2017 school year as the sixth high school of Leander Independent School District. [2] As of 2016, the school is the northern most high school in the district.
