The World Orienteering Championships (WOC) is an annual event organised by the International Orienteering Federation. The first World Championships was held in Fiskars, Finland in 1966. They were held biennially up to 2003 (with the exception of 1978 and 1979). Since 2003, competitions have been held annually.

The 2024 World Orienteering Championships was held from 12 to 16 July 2024 in Edinburgh, Scotland. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The championships consisted of 5 days of races, plus a warm-up event one day prior to the start of the competition.
The 36th World Orienteering Championships were held in Østfold, Norway in August 2019. The competitions consisted of middle distance, long distance and relay, for women and men, respectively. Both individual women’s competitions were won by Sweden’s Tove Alexandersson .
