The Pole House is an architecturally designed stilt house located in Fairhaven, Victoria, Australia.Best known for its protruding location 40 metres above the Great Ocean Road, the house boasts 200-degree views of Bass Strait and has been described as one of Australia's most photographed properties.
The hotel owners later leased land on the ocean side of the Great Ocean Road and built a tennis court. The Eastern View Hotel was a popular tourist destination for many years, but closed in 1957. [5] The Great Ocean Road Trust developed a nine-hole golf course at Eastern View in 1936. It closed at the beginning of World War II, and did not reopen.
The passing of the Road Management Act 2004 [34] granted the responsibility of overall management and development of Victoria's major arterial roads to VicRoads: in 2004, VicRoads re-declared the road as Great Ocean Road (Arterial #4890), beginning at Surf Coast Highway at Torquay and ending at Princes Highway in Allansford.
