Isles of Scilly Skybus is a British airline which operates year-round scheduled services to the Isles of Scilly from Land's End Airport and Newquay Airport in Cornwall, and seasonal scheduled services from Exeter. Their head office is located in the Isles of Scilly Travel Centre in Penzance, Cornwall. [1] [2]
The Isles of Scilly were featured on the TV programme Seven Natural Wonders as one of the wonders of South West England. Since 2007 the islands have featured in the BBC series An Island Parish, following various real-life stories and featuring in particular the newly appointed Chaplain to the Isles of Scilly.
In 1984, Isles of Scilly Skybus started operations at the airport, initially freight and charter, then scheduled services from April 1987, [9] flying Islanders and de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otters. [6] Skybus became the sole remaining air link for the Isles of Scilly from October 2012, when the helicopter service from Penzance ended. [10]

It is the only fixed-wing airport serving the Isles of Scilly, handling most air traffic to and from the Islands.
On 18 December 2009, Isles of Scilly Skybus operated the first charter flight into the airport. The flight originated from Newquay using a 16-seater aircraft. [3] As of 2010, there were plans to lengthen the runway and lighting arrays to allow larger commercial aircraft to land. [4]
