Question: Is there a rule of thumb for the amount a dealer will actually sell for below the sticker price? I think I’m looking for a guideline that meets IRS fair-market-value definition My hope is that people here know if a standard formula that is acceptable to IRS exists or can refer me to a respected, ‘known’ website for same or similar info/guidance in making a determination ...
Yesterday was my time with the tax preparer, who, like Eraser 1998, is an IRS-certified volunteer. My federal, state and city tax liability is such that strong wings are required to carry the payments to their respective coffers. Had I been biting bullets, I’d have gone through them like chewing gum. I’m more resigned today because, no matter, I’m still better off than I would have been ...
Triedaq January 15, 2010, 2:09am 2. The car is two years old. The tires are two years old, the battery is two years old, etc. If you buy the car and one day later the car is totaled, the insurance will compensate you for a 2 year old Malibu. I would pay no more for this car than I would for a 2 year old Malibu with 30,000 miles.
Timing Chain. Maintenance/Repairs. engines , suzuki , vitara. 3. 910. June 28, 2008. Need the timing chain replaced on my 2013 X3 xDrive28 (N20) and would like a recommendation on a reliable shop in Fairfield or Westchester County.
I just bought the annual registration sticker for the state license plate for the car for $103.37. I’m curious about the state in which you reside. In–supposedly “high tax”–New Jersey, it costs me $71.50 per year for vehicle registration, and that fee includes the state inspection fee.
When I buy a car, I do my homework and decide exactly what I want. I then go to the dealer and say “I am going to purchase a car within the next week. I want your best price. If you have the best price from the agencies I vist, I’ll buy the car from you”. I then give them a piece of paper with my list of the options that I want.
Is it worth putting Perma Plate on a new car when the dealer (in this case, Toyota) charges $695 (which the dealers says is discounted from the regular $995)? Is this any better than a good occasional car waxing, and doesn’t the factory usually provide good basic finish protection? The dealer says Perma Plate protects virtually everything except paint chips caused by road pebbles, etc.
Maryland suggests at least 30 minutes if continuous highway driving. George_San_Jose1 August 20, 2013, 4:28am 8. I usually take my Corolla on a long multi-hour 65-70 mph freeway trip a few days before the test. Prior to arrival at the testing station, on test day, I’ll drive the car a few miles on city streets, some 40 mph, some stop and go ...
Some require a vehicle to have a valid sticker before it’s sold. It seems to me the dealer should take care of this…UNLESS it won’t pass and they know this. Barkydog October 22, 2017, 7:02pm 3. If the emissions test is free in your state get one done, in our state I believe it is illegal for a dealer to sell a car that will not pass ...
CapriRacer April 18, 2008, 7:52pm 3. Slightly overinflated tires (3 to 5 psi over placard) is sometimes a good thing. It promotes tire wear, fuel economy, steering responsiveness, hydroplaning resistance, snow traction, but the ride quality suffers. But don’t do more than 3 to 5 psi (assuming the tire size is as listed.)
