Milo came to us with Maggie from an all breed rescue in North Texas. They were brought to the shelter from a backyard breeder by animal control and then taken in by the rescue. Milo is about 2 years old, 10 lbs, and extremely skittish.

Our mission is to place homeless shelties into forever homes with loving families. The Austin Sheltie Rescue is the result of a cooperative effort by people in the Central Texas area to find permanent loving homes for abandoned, stray, or unwanted Shetland Sheepdogs.
Shelter visitors are needed to evaluate shelties in need of rescue from the local animal shelters. Delivering them directly to a foster home or veterinary clinic for heartworm screening would also be a great help to foster families who work late or live further out of town.
For the best match between sheltie and family and to protect our dogs, Austin Sheltie Rescue screens our applicants carefully through the application, checks with the veterinarian, and performs a home visit.
