Kutsher's Sports Academy (KSA) was a summer sleepaway camp in Monterey, Massachusetts, for children ages 7–17. It was originally "conceived and developed by Milton and Joseph Kutsher and legendary basketball coach Clair F. Bee in 1968." [1] The land was originally the Harmony Country Club. [2]
Today, Karvonen lives in North Oaks, Minnesota with her husband, Dr. Alan Montgomery, and four children. [5] She is currently in her 22nd year of operating a summer basketball camp for girls all over the Twin Cities metro area. [6] Her camp, for girls ages 6–18, stresses correct basketball fundamentals, but also focuses on teaching life skills.
The camp provides campers with a Jewish educational experience. Campers are known as "Ramahniks." Ramah New England is known for its programs in sports, arts, Judaica, and Hebrew. Billy Mencow was director of the camp from 2000–2005. Rabbi Ed Gelb has been the director of the camp from 2006–present. [10]
