Each year, the lower grade was dropped and a higher grade was added, until 1997 when the school became a 9–12 high school, Eastside High. The first graduating class graduated in May 1998. In 2002, a new addition was built onto the school to help accommodate more growth. In 2006, the school had an enrollment of 1,441 and a staff of 100 teachers.
The Georgia Interscholastic Association (GIA) was a school sports league in Georgia. [2] It was integrated into the GHSA in 1970. [3] The Big 7 Conference included large high schools for African American students in Georgia. The GIA was an expansion of this league that came include county high schools around the state. [4]
