Sintra (/ ˈ s ɪ n t r ə, ˈ s iː n t r ə /, [1] [2] [3] Portuguese: ⓘ) is a town and municipality in the Greater Lisbon region of Portugal, located on the Portuguese Riviera. The population of the municipality in 2021 was 385,654, [ 4 ] in an area of 319.23 square kilometres (123.26 sq mi). [ 5 ]
The line opened in 1904 over the 11.7 kilometres (7.3 mi) between Sintra railway station and Praia das Maçãs. Sintra Station (Portuguese: Estação Ferroviária de Sintra) is a railway station in the town Sintra and the terminus of the Sintra Line from Rossio, one of the main stations in Lisbon. [1] It is managed by Infraestruturas de Portugal .
