Kingsway follows the Indigenous trail used by Canada's first peoples for hundreds of years. When the wagon road was built over it by the Royal Engineers between Vancouver's historic Gastown waterfront and the former capital of the Colony of British Columbia at New Westminster, as recommended by Colonel Richard Moody to facilitate troops movement between the two points.
The name "Vancouver Kingsway" has been used twice to describe federal ridings. It was first created in 1952, carved out of Vancouver South riding. In 1987, the riding was divided between Burnaby—Kingsway, Vancouver East, Vancouver Quadra and Vancouver South ridings. In 1996, a new Vancouver Kingsway was created out of these same four ridings.

The district of Vancouver-Kingsway was created in 1991 covering much of the same territory and subsequently had its boundaries modestly adjusted in 2001, 2009, and 2017. The riding was renamed Vancouver-Renfrew and had further boundary adjustments prior to the 2024 election , which implemented the results of the 2021 redistribution .
Kingsgate Mall is a shopping mall in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Construction on the mall began in 1972 with the grand opening being held on March 28, 1974. The land the mall stands on is owned by the Vancouver School Board.
