Prestonwood Town Center was a two-level enclosed shopping mall located at the northeast corner of Belt Line Road and Montfort Drive in Dallas, Texas that opened in 1979 and was demolished in 2004. The mall contained a central ice rink .
The history of shopping malls in Texas began with the oldest shopping center in the United States, Highland Park Village, which opened in 1931 in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. In 1991, Gump's announced it would close both of its Galleria locations in Houston and Dallas. In November 1995, the mall underwent a 75,000 square feet (7,000 m 2) expansion. In March 1996, Nordstrom opened as the anchor tenant of its new wing. In 1997, Marshall Field's sold all of its Texas locations, including the location at the mall. [4]

Dallas Market Center was founded in 1957 by real estate developer Trammell Crow. [7] The first trade event at Dallas Market Center was held in July 1957 and was attended by 1,850 visitors. Today, the largest markets attract more than 50,000 attendees from all 50 states and 84 countries.
