The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Nursing, is a tier one institute of higher education (the only one in South Texas). It is located on the main campus of University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. The school was ranked 40th nationally in 2010, [2] and 32nd by NIH funding.
UT Health San Antonio publishes a periodic magazine, Mission. [4] In August 2024, the University of Texas Board of Regents announced that the University of Texas at San Antonio and UT Health Science Center at San Antonio would be amalgamated to form a "world class university in San Antonio." The integrated universities will retain the UTSA name.
The School of Nursing was the first school, chartered in 1903. Surgical Technology followed in 1955, Medical Imaging Technology in 1959, and Vocational Nursing in 1988. In 2009, the first graduates were awarded the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, ushering in a new era for the school.
The college was established in Louisville, Kentucky, by Humana Inc., in 1989, and was originally known as Galen Health Institutes. [9] [10] The college originally offered only a one-year licensed practical nurse (LPN) program in Louisville, San Antonio, Texas, [11] and St. Petersburg, Florida.
