The Island line (Chinese: 港島綫) is one of ten lines of the MTR, the mass transit system in Hong Kong. It runs from Kennedy Town in the Western district to Chai Wan in the Eastern District on Hong Kong Island, passing through the territory's major business districts of Central, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay, and connecting them with built-up areas on the north shore of the island.
On 11 April 2006, MTRC signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with the government of Hong Kong, the owner of KCRC, to merge the operations of the territory's two railway networks. According to the memorandum, the MTRC-owned MTR lines will be fully integrated with the Shatin to Central Link, which will be part of the MTR system.

Central South (Chinese: 中環南站) was a planned MTR station on the Sha Tin to Central Link. If it was constructed, the station would have served as the southern terminus of the North South Corridor. In the 2012 and 2013 MTR annual reports, Central South station was marked on the Future Stations and Network Map.
