Death Valley Days is an American old-time radio and television anthology series featuring true accounts of the American Old West, particularly the Death Valley country of southeastern California. Created in 1930 by Ruth Woodman, the program was broadcast on radio until 1945.
Hosting the series was Reagan's final work as an actor; he left the series in 1966 to run for governor of California. [ 3 ] The television series was conceived by Pacific Coast Borax Company's advertising agency McCann-Erickson through company executive Dorothy McCann and Mitchell J. Hamilburg, who represented Gene Autry 's Flying A Productions.
Thomas Raynesford Lounsbury (January 1, 1838 – April 9, 1915) [1] was an American literary historian and critic. He was born in Ovid, New York on January 1, 1838. He graduated from Yale College in 1859 with a B.A. and received a M.A. from Yale University in 1887. [ 2 ]
His first model in 1887 was a lever-action rifle with the magazine in the stock, rather than under the barrel. [3] Six years later, he patented a lever-action rifle able to shoot then-modern guncotton military center-fire cartridges with .303-caliber spitzer bullets. [4] This "Model 95" was the direct predecessor of the Savage Model 99.
The Model 99 and Model 1899 were preceded by the Model 1895, which was the first hammerless lever-action rifle. [13] The 1895, as well as the later Model 1899 and early Model 99, used a five-shot rotary magazine to hold the cartridges. [14] The rotating magazine uses a spring-loaded spool with grooves to hold the cartridges.
