Bunker gear (also known as turnout gear, fire kit and incident gear [original research?]) is the personal protective equipment (PPE) used by firefighters. Located on the Lòng Tàu River north of the base, the Nhà Bè fuel depot was the largest fuel storage facility in South Vietnam with approximately 80% of the nation's storage capacity. [6] On the night of 3 December 1973 the VC hit the fuel depot with rocket fire destroying or damaging 30 fuel tanks and igniting over 600,000 barrels of fuel.
In 1975 Phung Duc Airfield was the base camp of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) 44th and 53rd Regiments. In the early morning of 10 March 1975 at the start of the Battle of Ban Me Thuot , the base was attacked by two People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) sapper battalions.
