After surviving being buried alive at the end of Season 1, Mr. Oliver reappears as a zombie. Sam sees him again in "The Favorite" when delivering a fridge to his mother's house. Mr. Oliver explains that he cannot die because of the deal with the Devil that cost Sam his soul. As a zombie, he cannot go out in public and needs to be kept cool.
The show spans two seasons, with a total of 29 episodes. The original pilot is 74 minutes long, [1] while the episodes that follow are 40 to 50 minutes. Showtime canceled the series due to declining ratings in the second season, [2] even though originally they claimed the show had three times higher ratings than the network's primetime average. [3]
