David Norris Phelps (born October 21, 1969) is an American Christian music vocalist, songwriter, vocal arranger, and producer who is best known for singing tenor in the Gaither Vocal Band. [1] He has also released several solo albums, including four Christmas collections.
Russ Taff was born to Joe and Ann Taff on November 11, 1953, the fourth of five sons, and grew up in Farmersville, California. Taff's father was a pastor of a small Pentecostal church - the Eastside Tabernacle Church which was located in an old laundromat - and machinist while his mother, Ann, was a field worker who picked fruit and chopped cotton.
Hall joined the Gaither Vocal Band as the new baritone in early 2004 [4] after an invitation from Bill Gaither that led to a one and a half month audition. His debut album Alive was released on August 10, 2004 with Curb Records. [8] The album steered from the common sound Selah offered, better known for well integrated harmonies, singing hymns and melodic ballads.
Specifying in a four star out of five review for CCM Magazine, Andrew Greer discerns, "Selah's latest is poised to be an extra-distinguished installment in their history-making discography."" [3] Phronsie Howell, agrees it is a four-star album for New Release Tuesday, recognizing, "You Amaze Us is another great release from Selah."
