The school's founder, Rev. Claude (Bud) E. Schindler, Jr., was formerly an NCR sales executive. As of 2024, Mr. Matt Baker is the school system's Head of School. In 2004 the school moved from the historic Julienne school building on Homewood Avenue near downtown Dayton to the former NCR World Training Center near Miamisburg.

Most of the base housing is in Kentucky, the school was originally on the Kentucky side of the base, and it is operated by the Kentucky District of the U.S. Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools, along with all other schools on Fort Campbell and the schools on the Fort Knox base situated entirely in Kentucky.

The Warriors compete in TSSAA class A-AA athletics, and class 3A football. Varsity Warriors sports teams have won nine state titles in men's soccer and four in women's soccer since 2003, and won the Class 3A football State Championship in 2011 and 2012.
