It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice. The facility also has an adjacent satellite prison camp housing minimum-security male inmates.
The largest correctional facility in the state is the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord, which is managed by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections.
