INS Vikrant (pronounced [vikraːnt̪ə]) [20] (lit. ' Courageous ') is an aircraft carrier in service with the Indian Navy. The carrier is India's fourth carrier and the first to be built in India. It was constructed by the Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) in Kochi, Kerala. The name Vikrant is a tribute to India's first aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.
The navy has named its first home-built carrier INS Vikrant in honour of INS Vikrant (R11). The new carrier is built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, and will displace 40,000 t (44,000 short tons).
