The National Hurling League started in late January with Tipperary's opening game was against Galway, managed by Micheál Donoghue on 26 January. The match was shown live on TG4 . [ 10 ] [ 11 ] [ 12 ] Four players started and made their National League debuts in the match, Dylan Walsh, Darragh McCarthy, Sam O'Farrell, and Michael Corcoran. [ 13 ]
The Tipperary county hurling team represents Tipperary in hurling and is governed by Tipperary GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association.The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League.
McCarthy's performances at school and inter-county underage levels resulted in a call-up to the senior team's training panel in mid-December 2024. [ 9 ] [ 10 ] On 26 January 2025 , he made his senior debut for Tipperary, scoring 1-6 in a 3-25 to 2-16 win against Galway in the opening round of the 2025 National Hurling League .
He first appeared on the inter-county scene with Tipperary as a member of the minor team in 2020, before lining out with the under-20 team in 2023. [ 5 ] [ 6 ] Doyle became a regular member of the senior team during the National Hurling League in 2025.

The captain is normally chosen from the club that has won the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship. This did not happen in 1989.
