The National Mosque of Malaysia (Malay: Masjid Negara Malaysia; Jawi: مسجد نݢارا مليسيا ) is a mosque in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It has a capacity for 15,000 people and is situated among 13 acres (53,000 m 2) of gardens. Its key features are a 73-metre-high (240 ft) minaret and a 16-pointed star concrete main roof.

Federal Territory Day (Malay: Hari Wilayah Persekutuan) is a territorial public holiday observed annually on 1 February by the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya in Malaysia. The date marks the anniversary of the transfer of Kuala Lumpur from the state of Selangor to the federal government , which occurred on 1 February 1974.
The area was formerly the location of Kuala Lumpur's main market, before the British government completed what would become the Central Market in 1888 and 1889. The Old Market Square became and open area commonly used as a recreation area and commercial center in early Kuala Lumpur, but diminished in importance as the city grew outwards.
