Lake Petenwell is an artificial lake on the Wisconsin River in central Wisconsin. It is located in Adams, Juneau, and Wood counties next to Castle Rock Lake. It covers over 23,000 acres (93 km 2) and is 42 feet (13 m) deep. Lake Petenwell is Wisconsin's second largest lake at 23,040 acres (93.2 km 2) or approximately 36 square miles (93 km 2).

Mount Tom State Park is a public recreation area lying south of US Route 202 in the towns of Washington, Litchfield, and Morris, Connecticut. The state park occupies 231 acres (93 ha) on the southwest shore of Mount Tom Pond [ 4 ] and is home to the Mount Tom Tower , which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. [ 5 ]
Recreational activities include hiking, picnicking, canoeing, fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating.The 110-mile (180 km) Metacomet-Monadnock Trail passes through the reservation as do several low-profile seasonal auto roads.

The park was created in 1928 when the State Park and Forest Commission purchased 150 acres which included nearly two miles of riverfront from the Ousatonic Water Power Company. [5] Beginning in the 1990s, the park became the scene of annual regattas hosted by the New Haven Rowing Club. [6] [7]
The nature reservation at Thompson Park totals about 925 acres (374 ha) and stretches from the main section of Thompson Park on Schoolhouse Road to the Gravel Hill. The heavily wooded reservation is located along the Manalapan Brook , with some of the land still being utilized by local farmers in cultivating crops. [ 13 ]
