The Little Five Points Vortex. The Vortex Bar and Grill is a restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, with two locations, in Midtown on Peachtree Street, originally opened in 1992, and Little Five Points, opened in 1996 and distinguished by the large "Laughing Skull" entrance.
A bar was installed at the back of the auditorium. It reopened as the Arcata Theatre Lounge in April 2009. In August 2016 it was again listed for sale for $1,850,000 [3] and in August 2019 sold to Timothy Overturf for $1,135,000. [4] A number of businesses occupied the two small storefronts in the Arcata Theatre Building.

On September 14, 1946 the Hippodrome's marquee suddenly fell to the pavement below, killing a bystander, Mrs. Jessie Shirley Potter, 41, of Alta, who was crushed beneath the marquee. Joseph Brady, 40, was struck a glancing blow and sustained a skull fracture, broken collarbone, permanent brain injury and loss of hearing in one ear.

The oldest stand-up comic seems to be Herbert Falk, born May 30, 1921, [42] who performed at the Laughing Skull Comedy club in Atlanta when he was 99 yrs old on Jan 23, 2020.
