Los Gatos High School (LGHS) is a high school in Los Gatos, California. It was founded in 1908 and is part of the Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District, which in 2021 was ranked the best high school district in California [2] [3] The school enrolls approximately 2,100 students [4] and employs about 100 teachers.
Charlie Wedemeyer (February 19, 1946 – June 3, 2010) was a high school teacher and football coach. He played college football at Michigan State University. After being diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease, he continued to teach and coach football at Los Gatos High School. He was the subject of a PBS documentary and a made-for-TV movie.

Allen first attended Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, but transferred to Los Gatos High School in Los Gatos for his senior year after he was expelled for selling stolen yearbooks. Los Gatos is Spanish for "The Cats". [10] The name derives from the 1839 Alta California land grant that encompassed the area, which was called La Rinconada de Los Gatos ("The Corner of the Cats"), where the cats refers to the cougars (mountain lions) and bobcats that are indigenous to the foothills in which the town is located.
