Realizing that hunger was one of the most significant problems facing Seattle and beyond, The Ministry partnered with two other organizations to organize a food bank system, originally known as Neighbors in Need. In October 1970, they opened 34 food banks, originally conceived as "a short-term immediate response to the immediate crisis".
This food comes from restaurants, grocery stores, farmers, and food manufacturers. [5] Every day Food Lifeline is able to distribute 88,000 meals with the help from over 10,000 volunteers. [1] Currently, Food Lifeline is working towards creating one main work station, to be called the Hunger Solution Center, in Seattle, Washington.

Solid Ground (founded in 1974 as the Fremont Public Association) is an anti-poverty and social service organization in Seattle, Washington. Originating in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood and now based in the adjacent Wallingford neighborhood, the organization is active throughout Seattle, King County and (for some programs) statewide.
