He also initiated the usage of newspaper for dakwah, with the establishment of the Nahdlatul Ulama newspaper, Soeara Nahdlatul Oelama. He also created the lyrics for the anthem of Nahdlatul Ulama, Ya Lal Wathon, in 1934.
