The University System of West Virginia was an American educational authority formed by the West Virginia Legislature on July 1, 1989, to oversee the operation of the state's graduate and doctoral degree-granting institutions. It was abolished on June 30, 2000.
The school serves north central West Virginia. Like West Virginia State, Fairmont State allows Pierpont students to participate in its athletics and other programs. Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, commonly called "Southern", which was founded in 1970 from the Logan and Williamson branches of Marshall University.
The George R. Farmer, Jr. Law Library is located on WVU's Law Campus. The West Virginia & Regional History Center is located on the Downtown Campus inside the Wise Library. Libraries not on the WVU campus include the Mary F. Shipper Library at Potomac State College in Keyser and the Beckley Library at the WVU Institute of Technology. [1]
